About Ross

I am a maker, artist, designer, and educator.

I work primarily with wood, as a medium and as a living record of ecological and cultural story. My approach to making is grounded in long-standing ecological and philosophical inquiry: early studies in zoology, botany, environmental philosophy, and the philosophy of science, alongside later research into design and craft, have quietly shaped the way I work with materials, environments, and the subtleties of place. I create sculptural furniture and installations that explore sound, ecology, and material intelligence inviting deep, sensory connection to place, process, and the natural world.

I have taught in studios, schools, and tertiary institutions, sharing an approach to design and making that values craft skills, reverence, curiosity, and dialogue with materials. My projects have ranged from large-scale restoration and conservation works to intimate domestic furniture, sonic sculptures, listening devices, display furniture for libraries and galleries, and a Bunya Infinity Forest for the National Museum of Australia.
